Forever 21 Founder Doesn’t Know Much About Her Company — The Cut
google Made in LA a documentary about three immigrant workers who worked for 2-4 dollars an hour 80 hours a week, which is half the minimum wage for the state of california.
what company did they work for? FOREVER 21, which i just researched a bit is actually owned and cofounded by a very devout christian korean american couple, who reportedly pay their factory workers more if they go to a christian born again camp.
not only do they rip off their employees, (even if they can be “considered bottom ring”)
they also (big shocker here) rip off designer brands, and when they sue they play dumb and blame the vendors or the contractors. they’ve been sued around 50 times in the last three and a half years for stealing other designers intellectual property.
god as much as i love their 5 dollar v necks, im not sure if my conscience can deal with buying from a company who has policies i wouldnt implement myself.
but just look it up on youtube, and think twice about shopping at a company with shitty policies.
also if you ever want to research a company’s policy, i recommend looking up the current ceo/founder instead of just the store, because we all know how easy it is to appease the media with meaningless babble ( press kits anyone?)
